Susan McDowell

Susan McDowell entered into glory this evening, July 1, at 8:15 pm, surrounded by her family at her bedside. A memorial service is scheduled for July 23 at 11:00 a.m.

"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die" John 11:25-26.

Coffee anyone?

Former Tenth members Amy and Al Chapman recently purchased Elcy's Cafe and Coffeehouse located in the Glenside train station in Glenside, PA. It was less than a year ago they started their own coffee roasting company, Valley Green Coffee. Their coffee has created quite a buzz locally and was mentioned in a recent Inquirer article on the best local roasters. Their coffee is available at Elcy's, online, Abington Art Center, Glencairn Museum, and at Weaver's Way Co-op markets.
Go have a cup (or two or ten!).

Diana Woodward sent this in:

Tenth's own Deacon Brian McLelland is rowing "over there" (Henley-on-Thames) in the 2011 Henley Royal Regatta this week! He's part of the Heavyweight 8 team from Philadelphia's University Barge Club. Here's a picture of him racing in the "Spare Pair" event with fellow bargee Bart Isdanet. Brian is the one in the cap.

Repeat of Champions

Let all my faithful readers rejoice with me on the occasion of my alma mater, the University of South Carolina, repeating as national champions of college baseball. I calmly take in the satisfaction of watching the Gamecocks rise to unprecedented heights of sports glory. I am sure you would like to read and view a report of this historic moment.

CWS Update

For those of you without benefit of ESPN but are eagerly waiting to hear news about the fortunes of my school in the College World Series, receive with joy that the South Carolina Gamecocks remain undefeated. It is down to a best of three series between two teams - South Carolina and Florida. Last night, Carolina yet again snatched victory out of defeat in extra innings. If they win tonight (beginning at 8:00), they repeat as college champions.
