Dog Tease

It is hard to believe that a dog could be so cruelly mistreated.

Delivery Help Needed

Dave Allen will be away for a few weeks and needs a substitute to help with the homeless shelter ministry, January 12-February 16, specifically to pick up the shelter bread donations from Whole Foods in Gladwyne. The job consists of picking up baked goods between 9am and 10, and delivering them to the Ridge and Broad Street shelter.  Steve and Betsy Kline have been helping him with the Bible study portion of the ministry and that may go into hibernation while they are gone. Dave would appreciate any volunteers who wish to help for 6 weeks or a portion thereof. If you can help, email Dave or call at 610-356-3472.

Superman

Clark McCutcheon was inspired by Liam’s mention of Superman during the Sunday morning sermon.  This material is excerpted from a book on church humor given to Clark by Rose Keshishian (as if Clark needed encouragement).
The church has written a mission statement, designed a flow chart, and the office is now working on job descriptions.  The following is the first draft.

Sabbatical Dreams

Take a deep breath - I am going on a 3-month sabbatical from February through April. Yes, yes, I know - panic, turmoil, chaos will ensue, but after the first week things should settle down. You won't even know I am gone. By the third week you will have a hard time remembering me.

What will I  be doing? Hhmm...what will I be doing? What is there to do in south Florida? No snow or ice to contend with. I'll be writing a Tenth Press article this month on my plans; so stay tuned.

Hsu Memorial Concert

Philadelphia Biblical University has set a date for a memorial concert honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Samuel Hsu. On Saturday, March 24, PBU and the School of Music and Performing Arts will present a concert that will feature Dr. Hsu’s former students and colleagues. The event will also include testimonials and a video presentation which will include footage from an interview with Dr. Hsu conducted by Mr. Jonathan Master, Director of the Center for University Studies at PBU, just weeks before Dr. Hsu’s death.

New Women's Study

A new Women's Bible Study is beginning Sunday, January 15, in Room 3East (hmm...that's my room). It will meet during the 9:00 hour. To keep up with the men, who are meeting the same time on the subject of prayer, their focus will also be on prayer.

Jennifer Beauford Retiring

The end of this month and year brings the retirement of Jennifer Beauford, due to health reasons. Here is last Sunday's Tenth Press article paying tribute to her.

2011 Donations Deadline

To Tenth donors, I want to remind you that Saturday is the last day of the year. If you intend to make donations to Tenth to be credited for 2011, we must either receive it before Sunday. Or, if you mail a donation, it must be postmarked by Saturday. Checks received in the offering on this coming Sunday, January 1, will be credited for 2012, regardless of how you date the check.

If you would like to give online, go to the church website here.

I personally do most of my giving through my bank. Most banks offer free payment services.
